What is the craft of imitation marble paper pattern? Imitation marble paper pattern craft: One refers to imitating marble patterns on wood or other solid surfaces. The second refers to the use of a random, rotating style to create diverse, usually colorful, patterns on paper; it is used for empty pages at the beginning and end of a book, margins, and other decorative purposes. The process involves filling an empty pan or water tank with a soft gel-strength resin solution on which floats liquid paint, which is made by grinding the paint in a special resin tool. Crushed and made by adding a humectant, the pigments spread out. These smoothly curved patterns are controlled by dragging an iron comb with very sparsely distributed teeth across the surface. The paper is then covered over the liquid surface, and the pattern can be transferred onto it. The craft was very popular in Europe in the 17th and 18th centuries, and in the United States in the 19th century, but during this century its commercial use began to decline and some remained as a craft activity.
